The SAP outlines the establishment of a National Action Plan (NAP) in each of the eight Amazon countries to ensure the effective implementation of the Strategic Actions at the national level. These NAPs will be comprehensive documents harmonized with national policies, regulations, and legal frameworks within the broader context of Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM) and climate change initiatives. Moreover, they will align with each country’s goals and objectives as outlined in key international conventions and agreements related to environmental protection, climate action, and sustainable development.

The Strategic Actions proposed in the SAP largely communicate with existing national water management instruments and policies. Specifically, initiatives under the Strategic Line addressing Extreme Hydroclimatic Events align with the legal frameworks on climate change and adaptation within the Member Countries. Key focus areas include hydrometeorological monitoring, vulnerability assessment indicators, early warning systems, risk management strategies, and the enhancement of institutional capacities to address these challenges effectively.
