The vision and local knowledge of the indigenous peoples and traditional, Andean, coastal and riverside communities of the Amazon are fundamental to understanding the changes that are occurring due to climate variability and the environmental and socioeconomic impacts of water pollution, deforestation, loss of biodiversity, loss of glaciers and land use change, among other priority problems for which the Amazon countries have consolidated three Strategic Lines of Response, contained in the Strategic Action Program – SAP.

Because of their importance for the success of the intervention projects planned in the Amazon Basin Project, the communities are listened to and their knowledge, perceptions and needs, as well as their visions and dreams, are valued and taken into account.
